This was a period in skateboard history where its popularity took a deep drop. While skate companies came and went, Z Flex was one of the only original companies to ride the storm. Z flex with its second generation riders and innovations, continued to be the leader in the industry.
The Transbeam was another first for Z-Flex and started a revolution within skateboarding. All of a sudden skaters were able to do the trick, "Disasters". The transbeam enabled skaters to overcome the "Hang up", therefore detouring the "slam". Imitators called this product the "Lapper" or "Birdie".
This is one of the most innovative products ever. You will find "Concave" on every skateboard on the market today. The Winger skateboard was the first skateboard in history to utilize a concave on the top side of the board.
This is another great idea that started out as a simple idea, but later created a phenomenon in todays skateboard market. You will find that almost every board company from the years 2000-05 had a board selection that is titled and designed in a Series. Z-Flex was the first skateboard company to do this!
Generation II held its own. George Wilson was one of the best slashing, break the coping off of the pool, skaters of this era. Other great Z-boyz included Dennis "Polar Bear" Agnew, known for his big inverts and backside airs and Jimmy Plumer whom you might of seen on the cover and featured in the popular movie "Skateboard Madness" who was known for riding his signature "Z-Grooves" wheels and doing the best "wheelers" on pool coping ever.
