Z-FLEX BOWL JAM, PREVAIL SKATEHOUSE – POOLE, UK
Z-FLEX BOWL JAM, PREVAIL SKATEHOUSE – POOLE, UK.
On Saturday 28th February Z-Flex Skateboards facilitated 4 hours of carnage at Poole’s in-door skate house: Prevail. Z-Flex was on hand to raise some money for maintenance and upgrades to the Prevail Park, giveaway truckloads of prizes and make sure the days shred-ule went to plan.
As the clock struck 12.00pm the action started and over 50 rippers, young and old, swamped the bowl for their best chance at a warm up. The day was to off to an awesome start and would only get better with individual 20 minute sessions for under 16’s, 16-30’s and 30+ to follow the mayhem.
The kids turned up on mass and kicked off the first of the days jams with the Under 16′s ages group. WOW… some of these dudes haven’t even started secondary school yet and have head height back-side airs that will make your hair curl. Older competitors looked in in awe as the groms tore the bowl to pieces. It was awesome to see the future of skateboarding in such capable hands and to stoke them out with a bunch of prizes. A well-deserved first place went to Jesse Thomas, with second and third going to Fin and Rio respectively. We also gave a special prize to Keran for the aforementioned, hair curling airs.
The 16-30 and 30+ jams turned into the standard shambles that you’d expect when bunch of man-sized children try to skate at the same time. ID checks may be considered for next year’s Jam as there were some pretty interesting interpretations of what ‘under 30’ looks like! Jonno took first place in the 16 – 30’s with Oakley Liddell and Matt Grey placing second and third. Chris, Joe Habgood and Greg Nowik taking the top spots in the 30+ Jam while Noddy got a little something for best trick in the round and Dead Fast Jay got a special prize for being the Texas Death Match Survivor!
The day wrapped up with the Best Trick Comp and once again the kids showed everyone right up. Walking away with at least 3 months’ worth of pocket money and more than enough shirts to grow into was Keran who took first place, second to Rio and Matt Grey took the bronze.
We’ll see you again next year!
