Z-FLEX: A Z-TEAM TRIP TO ARIZONA

The Z-Flex team descended on Arizona and quickly set about sessioning everything in their path. Check out Oscar Navarro, Liam McCabe, Malakai Montes, Rayce Davis, Diego Alvarado and new team rider Gary Bolos shred everything that Arizona had to offer: ditches, pools, parks, DIY spots, backyard minis and an 80’s vert ramp, nothing was safe!

01 Started the trip off by warming up at The Wedge Skatepark

01

02  Cruiser train get on board.  Z-Flex Cruiser range available online.

02

03  The Wedge is one of the oldest parks in the Phoenix area which is home to many legendary “street” spots that surround the skatepark.

03

04  Local rippers are referred to as “Wedgends”  Oscar Navarro boosts over the hip in hopes of reaching Wedgend status.

04

05 After the morning warm-up the crew headed to Beardsly banks for some ditch skating.

05

06  Liam’s technical prowess earned him an NBD at this legendary AZ spot.  Laserflip with an extra twist.

07 Then Rayce Davis started working on another move further down the ditch and nailed this no comply for his latest Gullwing ad check it out here.

07

08  Since the DIY 1/4 pipe Rayce built  was in the vicinity, we hurried over to there next.  A little water was waiting for us so Rayce Davis and Gary Bolos’ pool cleaning experience was immediately put into action. Click here to watch the clip of the quarter being built a sessioned.

08

09  Diego Alvarado showed up fresh off the road from El Paso and immediately hopped on an indy nosepick.

09

10  Gary Bolos somehow pulled an eggplant on the 4 feet of vert.

10

11 Then Malakai slid a crail back tail as far as he safely could on the skinny 1/4

11

12  Oscar Navarro ended the session with a beautiful frontside rock and roll.

12

13  The next day started at a simple little DIY spot near the downtown.

13

14 Then over to JMod and Evan’s backyard where an 80’s vert ramp was timewarped into 2015.

14

15  Diego flipped this frontside invert head over heels to fakie which equals a Miller flip.

15

16 The weekend was spent in Tucson and Shane Short jumped in for the ride since he was off of school for the weekend.  He took us to this 2 stair flat bar and the session was on.

16

17 Liam said he would back Malakai’s smith grind up if he stuck it next try.  So Malakai put it down.

17

18 Then Liam had to make the back smith.

18

19 A final session at another Tucson spot and Liam finished off a line with this kickflip boardslide.

20 Sneaking around alleyways looking for backyard pools.

20

21  This one’s been going for years.  But it’s still a good one.

21

22  Diego gets a few runs in before he has to go back to El Paso and work at 4 am.

22

23  Rayce got several tricks over the deathbox and light.  This front feeble was one of them.

23

24  Malakai skated his first real backyard pool less than a year ago but that didn’t phase him. Bringing the Texas plant to Arizona on the Mayhem Deck.

24

25 Then it was round two at the ever popular Northern Ditch.  Malakai stand up paddle boarding

25

26 Gary Bolos cruising the back wall

26

27  Then he nailed the nollie bigspin, and a nollie bigger spin, check out that catch.

27

28  As Gary was rolling away from the bigger spin Liam ran back to the top and nailed the Brockel flip he was trying next go.

29  With everyone worn out we headed to Gobber’s for a late night session and had to let Rayce’s old man Shane get the grinds this time.

29

30  The crew minus Diego and Shane, paid a visit to Cowtown Skateboards before making the drive back to Southern California. Cowtown shop owner Trent photo bombing hard.
